On the 26th Oct, a team from ihub Nairobi – Kenya entered into the Ugandan tech space in Kampala for the Second Cohort of the traction camp accelerator program outreach workshop that was hosted at there partner premises @Hive Colab. This saw interested digital startup entrepreneurs from different corners and hub spaces in Uganda mingle up at one place.
The program which is supported by infoDev which is an arm of the World Bank and the governments of Kenya, Sweden, Norway and Finland is currently seeking applications for its Second Cohort with the main aim of informing interested digital startups on the requirements, introduction of the curriculum and some other key activities.
The first workshop was held in Nairobi at iHub and subsequent informational workshops will be held in Rwanda, Ethiopia and Tanzania in partnership with local tech hubs across the region. iHub and the World Bank Group launched Traction Camp, an initiative aimed to support emerging digital and mobile entrepreneurs across the region. The program has supported over fifteen high-growth startups with the knowledge, capital, and access to markets they need to grow.

Traction Camp is a regional acceleration program aimed at nurturing startups in East Africa so as to create globally competitive, growth-oriented, mobile and digital technology businesses.
It is a 6 month program that will supportS Growth-oriented startups in scaling their business through a tailor made acceleration process designed to take growth oriented enterprises and startups through a rapid-cycle competitive curriculum, and matches them quickly to appropriate capital and business mentor. The program will connect entrepreneurs with the knowledge, capital and markets they need to grow their enterprises.
