As a Ugandan, I discovered that we do have like interests regarding what is happening in the country Uganda. Ugandans usually have differing ideologies and perceptions but it is all usually centered on alike interests. They want to know, they want to understand their country and they do focus on what is happening in their country socially, politically and economically.

Therefore, this means that they research and look for information on what they want to know through many means and this is through social media. The most popular social media sites that Ugandans use are Facebook, WhatsApp, Google, Twitter and many others. However, there are websites that Ugandans visit the most.

1. Google.com

As we all know about google being the most visited site and search engine worldwide, google.com dominates most of Ugandans internet searches. Most Ugandans visit google daily for different reasons. Some google new ideas, checking for information about what they want to confirm in order to be sure about certain issues. For example, when I am puzzled about something, or a word or anything, the first thing that comes into my mind is google. This is where I can find a solution to anything I want to know about. And this true about every Ugandan. It is no wonder, every answer for every question now is found by using google in Ugandan schools and universities for assignments and revision.

2. Facebook.com

Facebook is the most popular social media site in Uganda. The biggest percent of most literate Ugandans have a Facebook account and they visit their Facebook accounts almost every day. This is why now even social media marketing has widened in most businesses in Uganda. The fact that most Ugandans visit their Facebook accounts everyday means that they get to know about certain brands from Facebook with intensive marketing and branding.

However most Ugandans visit Facebook as just a social site where they catch up with their friends post their daily activities and some have even decided to always update their statuses with everything that happens to them each minute of their daily lives. This is very true about most Ugandans today.

3. Monitor.com

Monitor is one of the most trusted news portal in Uganda, right from the newspaper to the website. Ugandans visit the monitor website for the latest political, economic, social and religious news. This is because in Uganda, many things happen in every aspect of the country and monitor tends to always have authentic news about every issue happening in the country especially political issues. The monitor website is usually visited by professionals in offices, most graduates and students for information of what is taking place in the country.

New vision is Uganda’s leading newspaper daily newspaper and so is the new vision website where most Ugandans visit this site for Ugandan news both local and international news. The newvision.com gives Ugandans news and ideas both from the local part and the international part and it is usually taken as a corporate news portal. No wonder the new vision site is visited more often than many other news sites in Uganda.

Due to the big number of unemployed graduates in Uganda, brightermonday.com (the biggest job advertising platform) is very much visited for the jobs that are advertised daily on their site. In fact, most Ugandans even have signed in into the brighter Monday website and get job updates in their email accounts almost every day. The high rates of unemployed graduates increases the number of Ugandans visiting the brighter Monday website in search of jobs of their career. This is because on this website, they specify the area of interests of the job seeker and make sure that one looking for a job gets the job details of what they are interested in. by this many thousands of Ugandan unemployed graduates visit this site for job opportunities.

Just like the brighter Monday website, the Uganda jobline.com is one of the biggest sites where Ugandans move into to get jobs of their career.
